From the roads leading to the Premier University’s Library, the Kenneth Dike Library, to roads along the University of Ibadan’s Alumni Centre, and extending one’s curiosity towards road network along the Faculty of Education, and Benue Road, the University’s roads are now in a worrisome state, with large and small potholes.

Observations by The Conscience Post had revealed that the University of Ibadan’s bad roads were left unattended to, and unrepaired by Prof. Olayinka Idowu, the immediate past Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, as Prof. Ekanola Adebola, whose six-month interim tenure has been extended for another six months by the institution’s Senate, has not embarked on major road rehabilitation in the University.

Other roads that are in bad state in the University are: Zoological Garden/ Faculty of Science road that is now a water-logged area, Chapel of Resurrection/Mosque road in the University of Ibadan.
Bad pavements and walk ways in the University of Ibadan can be seen, giving way to erosion and rain-induced bad effects.

In a related development, the reportedly spoilt canopy at the ‘’Love Garden’’ along the Central Administration in the University has been repaired by the Prof. Ekanola-led administration, but a roof over the canopy was missing as at the time of filing this report.

Text messages sent to Mr. Tunji Oladejo, the University’s Director of Public Communications, and Prof. Adebola Ekanola, the University’s Acting Vice Chancellor on the state of the institution’s roads were not replied as at press time.

The University of Ibadan is the first University in Nigeria, and an institution of choice for students, parents and guardians in the country and beyond.
